Didn't vote for Bush in 2000? Arianna Huffington says McCain didn't either

You might just have something in common with John McCain: both of you may not have voted for George W. Bush in the 2000 election.

So if you own an extra bumper sticker from 2000 that says, "Don't blame me. I didn't vote for Bush," maybe you should give it to McCain. At least, Arianna Huffington has been reporting from first-hand knowledge that McCain and his wife, Cindy, didn't vote for Bush in 2000.

Running as "The Great White Hope," Hillary Clinton Has Alienated the African-American Vote and Endangered a Democratic Victory

A BUZZFLASH READER CONTRIBUTION
by Dee Turner

I am one of the many thousands of African-Americans who are actively engaged with the Democratic Party. (I began immediately following my college graduation). I have held my nose and voted for a few Dems that I really didn't care for. I truly loved and supported Bill Clinton.

The Media's Lingering Denial, As Desperate as Hillary's

THE FIFTH COLUMNIST by P.M. Carpenter

In describing -- or dismissing -- Hillary Clinton’s "endgame" as "a fond wish wrapped in a desperate hope," The Politico's Roger Simon granted her a narrow opening and closed it at the same time.

His piece following Hillary's North Carolina and Indiana losses -- admit it, buckaroos, Indiana was a loss -- "Clinton desperate for super turnaround," was written in the present tense; so when he ventured that "she needs momentum, spin and fear" to transf

Jeff Fleischer: How Voters Should Learn to Stop Worrying and Love the Obama

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION
by Jeff Fleischer

With Tuesday's result in Indiana going Hillary Clinton's way by an ultra-narrow margin and her resultant decision to stay in the race, the Democratic primary contest is going to continue for at least another week. And with only six primaries to go, there will inevitably be another round of hysterical stories about how the ongoing process will doom the party's eventual choice come November.

That's possible, but not nearly as likely as the 24-hour news channels would suggest. In reality, the November electoral math still looks quite good for Barack Obama. As long as he emerges as the nominee (and the numbers say this primary is now even more over than it already was), the scars of this primary season will almost certainly heal about as well as they do every four years and give him enviable odds of putting the White House back in Democratic hands.

'Safe' part of Baghdad attacked, but hey, Bush has a wedding to worry about -- Verse-Case Scenario by Tony Peyser

Rocket Slams Into Political Headquarters In The "Safe" Part Of Baghdad

The saying is, "You can't fight city hall."
To do so is more rare than seeing a comet.
But if the city hall is in the Green Zone,
It now does appear that you can bomb it.

Hillary Clinton's attempts at a loyalty oath not as bad as Bush in 2004, but still bad for democracy

"Yes! I will vote for Hillary on May 6th!"

I attended three events over the weekend in Indiana: Bill Clinton in Plymouth, Janet Napolitano in Mishawaka, and Hillary Clinton in South Bend. Admission was free, as you would expect.

While attending the Hillary Clinton event in South Bend, I wasn't even required to give any information, though I had to go through the metal detector and empty my pockets. It was an outdoor event, and I had already seen a bomb squad truck in the area. So going through that process seemed normal.

For the Napolitano event, the Obama people did insist I give my name, address, and e-mail address. I explained to them that I was from out-of-state, and they said it didn't matter. But I also didn't get the impression that it was mandatory.

However, for the Bill Clinton event, the criteria were something else entirely. We were in line for quite awhile when a Clinton volunteer gave us a piece of paper. We were told we could not get in without this piece of paper.

Barbara's Daily BuzzFlash Minute for May 8, 2008

BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

"Clinton vows to fight on. 'I'm staying in this race until there's a nominee,'...''. Having issued a challenge, the outcome may not be what Hillary Clinton was hoping to obtain!! "Obama plans to announce a stream of endorsements by superdelegates -- the party officials and officeholders who aren't bound by the results of primaries and caucuses -- including three who backed him yesterday. The campaign also confirmed that Jennifer McClellan, a Virginia superdelegate, shifted her support to Obama from Clinton. At that rate, he may have as many superdelegates as Clinton by the weekend." Support for Mrs. Clinton is waning, and there could be a nominee sooner rather than later!!!

Maybe we are naive, but we have always thought of progressivism -- in its ideal form -- as gender neutral. Men and women, people of all faiths and colors join together to promote the common good, peace and justice.

BuzzFlash has long championed the equality of people regardless of race, gender or religion.
