FISA Amendment Just In Time To Steal Election

Senate Democrats and Republicans alike are now poised to pass H.R. 6304, known as the FISA Amendments Act of 2008, a bill touted by both House and Senate leaders to be a compromise proposal to prior Senate Bill 2248. Unfortunately, H.R. 6304 may give the Bush administration, in its last months, the ammunition it needs to hijack the 2008 presidential election.

Over 900 whistle-blower fraud cases in limbo at DOJ

A Washington Post story Tuesday reported that there are over 900 whistle-blower cases in limbo at the Department of Justice that allege government contractors and drug companies have defrauded taxpayers out of billions of dollars.There have been 300-400 new cases brought each year since 2001 but the branch of the Justice department assigned to investigate them has only been able to get through approximately 100 per year.

At a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing Wednesday, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) encouraged the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to reverse a moratorium on solar energy projects issued last month. The same day, the BLM did exactly that, citing "public interest."
