BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

It was billed as “Testifying Before Congress,” but what we got was that proverbial “two-step” word parsing, flim-flam from Petraeus and Crocker. If you ask me it was nothing more than a crock of s*#t peddled to the public to make the biggest blunder ever committed, the biggest mistake ever made by a United States president, a six-year disaster of death and destruction, look like something it’s NOT! And it did not work, the American people are on to the jargon, the double talk, the insanity, we’ve had enough of it already, it’s time to bring our soldiers home, it’s time to bring an end to this the worst disaster of all disasters!

“But Bush's decision will affect only those troops sent to Iraq as of Aug. 1 or later, meaning that those already there still have to complete 15-month tours. Bobby Muller, president of Veterans for America, an advocacy group, said that nearly half of the Army's active-duty frontline units are currently deployed for 15 months, and that Bush's decision leaves them out. ‘In short, this is a hollow announcement; it has no immediate effect,’ Muller said. ‘It is nothing more than political posturing at the expense of our troops. Our soldiers are unraveling …’” And some think George Bush cares about our soldiers! Hogwash, Bush only cares about covering his own ass up to and until he can get out of Dodge!

Have a look see at these pictures! The same guys who brought you, the “fall of Saddam” are still manipulating the war in Iraq! That would be George Bush, Dick Cheney, the Bush Administration, the Repuglican Party, and Mainstream Corporate Media with more than a little help from Petraeus and Crocker!!!

That “fragile progress” looks more like imposed “curfews” and “vehicle bans” than peaceful “progress”! You have to know that there are continuing, very real problems when children cannot go outside to play on normal days! “For 10-year-old Ammar Karim, taking advantage of the vehicle ban to play soccer with other boys in the middle of central Baghdad's normally traffic-clogged Karrada Street, the anniversary had a simpler meaning: a chance to play. I like this government because we have a lot of curfews. It is the only time we can go out and play football. I wish we could have curfews all the time, because otherwise my family keeps me locked in the house.”

Obviously, that “fragile progress” in Iraq does not include Baghdad’s Green Zone, and it certainly does not include America’s “enduring bases”! “Colonel killed in Green Zone. Scott, a member of the Huntsville Track Club and an avid runner, was on a treadmill in the U.S. Embassy's fitness facility Sunday when a mortar round crashed into the building, killing him and two other soldiers.”

And while Petraeus and Crocker were touting “fragile progress” in Congress, back in Baghdad things were not going very well! “Police said six people died in clashes overnight, and an explosion in the morning hit a funeral in the slum, killing six more and wounding 14 people. Dr Qasim al-Mudalla told Reuters 11 bodies and 54 wounded had been brought to the Imam Ali hospital he manages in Sadr City … The dead included four children and two women, he said. ‘What are they doing? The floor of the hospital is covered with the blood of children. What is the world doing? They have seen the blood of our children and are doing nothing.’” Is George Bush shedding some tears over the deaths of these innocent children, is he emotional when innocent children suffer the deadly consequences of his illegal, preemptive, unnecessary war, or is he still sleeping well at night? May God have mercy on us all.

Call the General whatever you like, but sadly the truth is “it will not stop Petraeus or some other general in charge from telling Congress a few months from now what the president wants lawmakers to hear.”
