BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE

“BAGHDAD - It is a politician's dream: Handing out cold, hard cash to people on the street as they plead for help.” Hmm, in Iraq the Iraqi people get the profits; in Bush’s America the Military Industrial Complex, the mortgagers, the Corporations, the CEO’s, and the “oil men” get the cash!!! “Bush highlighted plans to stabilize the mortgage lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and lift the ban on offshore oil drilling as two steps his administration is taking to address some of the nation's economic ills.”

Seems none of the Bushies can remember anything at all! “Report: Bush officials "can't recall" details of Tillman, Lynch cases.” The truth is out there somewhere, and now that it’s time for them to leave -- we find out this administration is made up of “experienced” people, one and all, suffering from dementia!

Finally, a descriptive phrase of George Bush’s presidency I can agree with: “The Legacy of a Lunatic”! And the article is even better!!!

“This is the week that should have effectively ended John McCain's efforts to become the next president of the United States. But you wouldn't know it if you watched any of the mainstream media outlets or followed political reporting in the major newspapers.” Indeed, Mainstream Corporate Media is pro-John-McCain-McBush! The MSCM has proven they are Repuglican snake oil salesmen over and over again! They will present McCain’s horrendous errors, his very serious political and policy gaffs and then psychologically serve them up as “cake” for the consumption of the American public! This is the same MSCM who aided and abetted George Bush’s catastrophic rise to power and America is now suffering the consequences! Thank whatever entity you wish, for the Internet, because without the Progressive Web sites, the bloggers and the bearers of truth, America would never know the truth if left up to MSCM!!!

“What's it take to get safe food in this country?” Another example of why Repuglicans are wrong for the safety and security of America! When Repuglicans in general and George Bush in particular are running things, we can’t even expect the food that we eat to be safe, how in hell does anyone expect them to protect us in other circumstances?

"... today, after all the abuse and scorn heaped on Jimmy Carter and his supporters, we find ourselves paying more than $4 a gallon at the pump to fill our hulking gas guzzlers. It turns out that Carter was right after all. He was right in seeking to raise the fleet auto mileage standard to 48 miles per gallon by 1995. (Even U.S. automakers admitted at the time that they could easily achieve 30 mpg by 1985.)" I am reminded of a story I once heard about some men back in the '60s (as men will so often do) sitting around on a break at the Pratt-Whitney test site down in Indiantown, Florida discussing their automobiles and the MPG they were getting! The story goes that one of the guys with a brand new Ford sedan said he had been getting 30 to 35 MPG in his new car, and thinking something was wrong, since everyone else with the same model was getting 9 to 11 MPG, he took the car back to the dealer! "What a mistake"! The dealer told him that an "experimental carburetor" had been installed on his car by mistake, that it had been removed, and now he would be getting the recommended 9 to 11 miles per gallon!!! This story goes to prove, that American automobile companies had the technology and the know-how to achieve a more economic use of gasoline even way back then, but apparently, due to greed or maybe a deal with the oil men, rather than doing what was best for America, the automakers opted not to use that technology!!!

Vindication for President Jimmy Carter, and it’s about time!!! Contrary to what Regressive Repuglicans would have you believe, Jimmy Carter was and is a “visionary”! Too bad for America the Repuglicans were so blinded by their greed and need for power they weren’t capable of seeing it!! And that, to borrow an overused Repuglican phrase, “at the end of the day” is oh so true!!! Had we but listened to President Carter back then and embraced his vision, we the American people would not be in the biggest OIL mess we find ourselves in today!!! Had the Repuglicans in general, and big oil man George Bush, Sr. in particular, been more interested in doing what was best for America, rather than the “arms for hostages” back-door wheeling and dealing, we would not be dependent on Middle Eastern foreign oil!
