BARBARA'S DAILY BUZZFLASH MINUTE
A point of clarification -- When the primaries first began, I was behind Hillary Clinton 100%! As the primary campaign continued and took on such a negative approach, which in my opinion was not necessary, after all Mrs. Clinton had so much going for her and it was only important to continue to point out her value, but they chose the low road, the same tactics that the Repuglicans have been using since Bill Clinton first ran for national office, the Clintons seemed to adopt that "if you can't beat 'em join 'em attitude," the "swift-boat," underhanded, below the belt, nasty, tabloid, scandalous guilt by association, sensationalism that are all components of the Repuglican "strategeries" that I despise and want no part of. I sadly watched both Bill and Hillary tear down everything they seemed to have constructed over the years, I watched at first in sadness that quickly turned to horror as they annihilated what had once been a stellar legacy! I am repulsed by the innuendo, the pandering, and the unnecessary embellishment that has become the Clinton experience! Now, if by some chance it happens that Hillary Rodham Clinton does win the nomination, I will vote for her, because as my grandmother used to say, "don't cut off your nose to spite your face"! I will vote for her, because all this will pale in comparison to John McCain and the Repuglican platform of eternal war, long term recession, and the end of democracy George Bush style and I am not that stupid!
McCain promises [1] -- "We would nominate judges of a different kind, a different caliber, a different understanding of judicial authority and its limits." Yeah, just like the conservative partisan Repuglican Supreme Court judges that negated the popular vote and appointed George Bush in the year 2000! McCain wants to limit "democracy" and establish a partisan conservative Repuglican ideology, and total Repuglican rule! Americans do not need nor do we want to mimic a conservative religiously oriented Republic!
We definitely do not want to mimic a government [2] that has a "different caliber," a "different understanding of judicial authority" that boasts of a "Council of Guardians," a "Supreme Leader," a "Supreme Ruler" that in the end has the final say over all matters!
Couldn't have said it better myself -- "Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said McCain has a 'radical, right-wing judicial philosophy [3]. It's clear he's the wrong choice to safeguard that future... No matter how far they have gone to restrict our fundamental rights or their clear records of gutting the reforms John McCain claims to care about, he has put loyalty to his party and a radical agenda ahead of the American people.'" Vote Democratic in November!!! We do not need politics as usual in Washington, D.C.!
Would that Mrs. Bush been as prudent about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina [4], how much better New Orleans would have been! Would that she lend her support to those living in "formaldehyde riddled trailers," then just maybe the victims of Hurricane Katrina would be provided with healthier living conditions!
I am struck by the racist remarks [5] being made over and over again in this primary campaign, not the ones some may think, but rather, "the support of the white, working-class voters they contend will be key to winning," yeah, those remarks, because it completely eliminates the African-American vote, the backbone of the Democratic Party, the vote that Democrats have relied on over and over in each and every election since African-Americans got the right to vote in America. This is the very reason why the Obama message of "we are not red states or blue states, white America or red, yellow, brown, or black America, we are all Americans," there is no division, no separation, and yes, it is the very reason why Obama's message resonates all across America from sea to shining sea!
I would like to second BuzzFlash's suggestion [5] that Hillary Clinton be nominated for Judge on the Supreme Court. There is no other place that her experience and expertise could or would be of greater value!
It saddens me, but even more it sickens me to witness the tactics being used [6] by two of the political people I once revered! "...it remains an extraordinary fact that Hillary Clinton's ambition to be President has overwhelmed any qualms about the hypocrisy of her campaign using McCarthy-like tactics against Barack Obama. For a political couple criticized in the past for "doing or saying anything to get elected," the Clintons seem determined to prove their critics right."
