MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON

"An effect can become a cause, reinforcing the original cause and producing the same effect in an intensified form, and so indefinitely." -- George Orwell, Why I Write
When we think about Bush's original invasion into Iraq supposedly to find Saddam's WMD and the effect it has had on Iraq and after five years of occupation, Orwell's words ring true today. The Bush GOP's cause and effect in Iraq has become their cause and has intensified through the years. Today, we keep hearing from Bush and his Republican supporters, such as McCain, Cheney, Rice, that we have to win in Iraq, as if we Americans are all fools enough not to understand that winning an invasion/occupation is impossible, and that this political GOP official-ese is merely to take the public's eyes and ears off of the many reasons for acts of treason. Aside from the fact of an illegal invasion, as the US was not attacked, there were no WMD found, Saddam's sons were killed, Saddam was given a trial and who in the hell did Bush and the GOP think they were, to try and execute Saddam through a trumped up trial? Even that didn't finish the occupation in Iraq. Today, hundreds of thousands of innocent people are dead, including US military who should never have been deployed into an illegal invasion, and three to four million Iraq citizens have had to leave their own country, their homes, their businesses, etc. Bush joked about not finding the WMD. The political speeches we keep hearing about today have the word victory added to them. First the cause was the WMD, then the delivery of democracy. If the Iraqi people could just get more than two hours of electricity after five years, they would be happier ... ahh, then there is the oil. When Saddam was alive, it sold for $20 a barrel. No profit for the big oil companies at that price. It's been reported that no meters were on the Iraqi oil after the invasion. This Bush GOP regime does not count bodies, why would they count oil, spent or fraudulently spent dollars, especially when they do not fear accountability? To them, there's been no limit set for them of either one, bodies or dollars. There is no shortage of oil, just a shortage of honest people in US government. Of course there will be a shortage in the future, and we have been warned about that through the years, but all alternatives have been mostly ignored, then this shortage was created by the Bush GOP. We Americans are left with the highest debt in our history, which has been sold to China, deaths that should be considered as murders, and the destruction of Iraq, US government, a legislative war against the American people that will resume if McCain's political rhetoric is to be believed. Then, as if the constant fight for complete control over the American people were never to stop, there is the Bush move to consider that birth control is the same as abortion . . . why would such an insane measure be considered? To keep the US military full of the poor and disenfranchised for generations to come, as the Republicans' cause in the Middle East continues and intensifies for world domination? Think about the permanent US military bases in Iraq and all around the world. Greed for more power, the ultimate self realization when those who have everything else their greedy minds desire, there's always the greed for more power. Why do many members of Congress think that by allowing US law to go unnoticed or simply trampled on by those in US government, and assume or act as if our own democracy is not under a threat, that they can just ignore these trespasses until after the election and then everyone will forgive and forget? How utterly foolish is that? The idea that any US resident of the White House can simply pardon himself and his comrades in crime is testament as to how weak our US democracy has become. Like father, like son. We Americans should not forget that Bush number one pardoned those who could have testified against him, and investigations were discontinued under the Clinton administration. But, the Clintons wanted to get along with these Republicans. And, so it seems, they still do. How do we Americans feel about our country today? Ask any parent who has lost a family member. Ask those American citizens who are losing their homes, their jobs, or losing their business due to the last eight years of US government. Then, ask anyone who was living in Afghanistan or Iraq. All opinions, deaths, losses, regardless of what they are, are being ignored by our government. Why should we American citizens allow a government that is supposed to work for us . . . to keep ignoring us? Why should we American citizens continue to allow our government to go free of accountability, while the debt, death, and destruction by the Bush administration continues unabated by the watchdog powers of this nation?
"Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind." -- George Orwell
And last, but certainly not least, there is Iran. The Bush GOP's cause and effect in Iraq that has become their cause, if not stopped, the cause goes on and from what we are hearing will keep intensifying. Any child can be made to understand that violence creates violence . . . who's going to stop these criminals in US government? How many more innocent people have to die? Why would anyone with a conscience today vote for this violence-prone, Bush/Cheney controlled Republican Party? Want change and the sanctity of life on this planet preserved for future generations? Change the cause.
