Yes, Jon Stewart is not a journalist. And Stewart talks about the "fake news" on "The Daily Show." But in the many segments on his own program, Stewart should realize that the MSM will simply not ask the questions the American public wants to hear.

So Stewart had Speaker Nancy Pelosi on the show last night [1]. Pelosi is promoting her own book "Know Your Power: A Message to America's Daughters [2]," but certainly Stewart had opportunities to ask Pelosi about other issues. And he did. Stewart asked about Congress' success rate, and what might happen to Congress if Obama wins in November.

There was one question missing on the docket in the interview. All Stewart had to ask was this: "Given what we have learned about the Bush Administration since the elections of 2006, do you now regret taking impeachment off the table?"

As a follow-up question, Stewart could have asked: "Did you factor in anything new that might come out about the Bush Administration tactics when you made you decision about impeachment?"

Seems simple enough, and Stewart is certainly capable of asking these types of questions. But as regular viewers know, sometimes Stewart doesn't want to seem too confrontational because, after all, it's a comedy show. And he saves his best for what he sees as hypocrisy, e.g., the infamous Chris Matthews interview [3].

No offense, Jon Stewart, but Pelosi's path about impeachment is littered with hypocrisy. We realize you aren't a journalist. And understand, the "journalists" aren't doing their job. It's a sad existence when a comedian does a better job of getting to the truth than those who are trained to do so. But this is the reality where we live -- and we could have used a little push toward the truth last night.
