MS. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON

BuzzFlash,

"Newspaper: A device for amusing one half of the world with the other half's troubles." -- Leonard Levinson.

No, not Edwards' affaire de coeur -- matter of the heart. We all know the cruelty and dishonor to this country that was done by the Bush GOP towards President Clinton, the stupidity of such was that the legislative branch of this country wanted to impeach him. That should have been proof to the American people, at the time, just how scant the intellectual gray matter that was involved in this happening, and was taking hold of our government. A giant clue of what was to come, the complete disappearance of gray matter within the Bush administration.

The Clintons, understanding this type of hurtful, vindictive attack (hurtful to the nation, it gives the impression to the world that the US is a country that is still going through its teenage years), and they could have given a stronger support to Edwards in the media, couldn't they?

Edwards, like Hillary, voted for the invasion into Iraq. That concerned me more. At least he said he was sorry. To this day, Hillary has said, instead, she would obliterate Iran. Nice thought ... coming from someone in US government. Someone who evidently doesn't really understand the pain that this treasonous Bush regime has given to the world in our name. And, as we see in the news, the Bush regime is still trying to start WW III in order to keep the Bush GOP in cowardly control of the violence around the world. More deaths and destruction of unarmed people whose faces we will never see, whose lives we will never know about, yet, they are killed all for nothing.

So far, during this year, very little of much importance has been in the big guy media in print or on TV, especially since it is an election year. Oh, maybe a day or so, but for many Americans to get what's really happening around the world, they need it repeated constantly.

We Americans have been reduced to the nature of the tabloids. Whether it's how a person is dressed, where they cut their hair, how much that haircut cost, and who they sleep with ... we are supposed to give a damn about that? I personally don't care about who has affairs and with whom. I have always thought that the US government's ideas about sex and violence are underdeveloped to a point that, as we know, has caused physical and psychological damage to just about everything they have touched. What does it say about the affairs of this country when the big guy media in this country continues to talk about sex, and the latest being that Cindy McCain's hand got sprained from someone shaking it too hard (Oh My!) ... rather than the debt, death, and destruction caused by this illegal Bush administration?

What should concern us Americans? ... "Affaire d'interet" -- matter involving self-interest; matter of money. ... Not to forget "affaire d'honneur" -- the matter of principle.

If big guy media thinks that we Americans want to hear about everybody in government and their sexual affairs, then they should start being fair. What about McCain? Shouldn't we hear more about Gingrich? What about Rep. Mark Foley? What about Senator Craig? And, I'm sure we could find many more ... quite frankly, more importantly, why didn't we hear day after day about the gay prostitute who was given a "false identity" as a journalist, [1] and visited the Bush GOP White House on a regular basis, including press conferences? Now, that should have been given a whole lot of coverage and more investigation. Who else has been given such privileges in the people's White House, I wonder?

Truthfully, advice to Mrs. Edwards: An affair is not the worst thing that could ever happen to any couple. Ask many of them. Yes, affairs are hurtful, especially when they are used as media fodder to keep the real news out of the news; however, there's so much more hurt out there that men, women, and children have to bear, and who in the hell cares, not US media ... an affair should be at the bottom of that list. Yes, I'm adding men to this list because the abuse that many men in this country suffer, is never reported in the news. Why? I'm guessing this patriarchal society thinks it would look weak, when it should be seen as being human.
Why don't we get a daily briefing on the rapes in our own military, in our prisons in the US and abroad, and give us the reasons why we have had no accountability or seen anyone arrested and prosecuted? Where are all of those Bush secret prisons? What about those so-called suicides by women who had been raped? What about the rapes of women employees who worked for Halliburton?

What about the murders and rapes that are happening on a daily basis in Iraq and Afghanistan, or around the US? Where are the pictures, the questions Americans should have concerning everything going on in Iraq, Afghanistan? What's happening in New Orleans? What about the injustice in the Justice Department? These are themes that we Americans should be seeing in the news every day instead of an affair by Edwards. We've had years and years of this regarding the Clintons.

Today, the Bush GOP wants to portray women who use birth control as having abortions. Today, rape is still not taken seriously by this Bush GOP criminal administration. And they only care about affairs of the heart if they are committed by Democrats.

Want to really give the media something to talk about? Grow up! Put Edwards in as VP or some other big government job. Forgive him for voting to invade Iraq; he said he was sorry. And, take a good look at the reactions by the GOP and some Democrats ... What I'm saying is, I don't believe someone should be put out of government due to an affair (Clinton wasn't), unless, like the Bush GOP, he's been sleeping with the enemy.

Just a thought,

Thanks BuzzFlash,

Shirley Smith
