Subject: What are them Ay-rabs doing sittin' on top of OUR oil?

For the Evening Edition:

It isn’t news anymore. The allied death toll in Iraq and Afghanistan rose above 3,200 this week. That milestone did not rate a mention in the daily press. Thirty-Eight have died during the first 26 days of July. It isn’t news because it is routine. America’s soldiers and those of her allies go out to die every day with little to mark their progress. Dead soldiers just aren’t news.

Perhaps the number pales in significance when viewed alongside the number of Iraqis and Afghans who are killed daily in the civil wars our policies helped to foment. Perhaps it is because the events in Baghdad, Basra, Kandahar and Kabul have been overshadowed by the capture of three Israeli soldiers and their nation’s response to that military threat. Perhaps it is because we have been watching the count rise each day for more than four years. But whatever the reason the deaths of one or two soldiers each day has become commonplace.

It isn’t news that the Department of Homeland Security has misspent billions of dollars on no-bid contracts intended to strengthen our defenses against terrorist attacks within our borders. Luxury hotel suites for contractors interviewing employment applicants for TSA positions and a network of cameras along our land borders that could not weather ice and cold or heat and humidity are just two examples cited in a government audit report. That is not news because like dead soldiers contractor rip-offs have become the rule rather than the exception in our endless war of terrorism. The day to day drain of money and blood has become routine and unremarkable.

That BP reported another round of excess profits on the same day that BP regular unleaded reached $3.129 at its Midwest stations isn’t news. The Republican Congressional leadership and the White House strangely are silent as to that development. The oil companies announce record profits every quarter. Exxon’s revenues in the second quarter of 2006 topped One Billion Dollars per day on its way to the second largest quarterly profit ever reported by a US company. Talk about pay at the pump! But it isn’t news – it is just one more aspect of the Bush Administration record with which we are all familiar.

Israel and Hezbollah rip southern Lebanon to shreds while Condi Rice exercises herself from Capitol to Capitol. Her message is that the United States favors a ceasefire. It just doesn’t favor one now. The time for a ceasefire is the day after Israel totally vanquishes its foe. Meanwhile the United States will ship humanitarian aid to Beirut and expedite shipments from its stock pile of smart bombs to Israel.

And that isn’t news either.

Subject: Neocon Plans To Revamp Entire Middle East [Caution: right-wing links provided]

Hi BuzzFlash Readers,

Heard about this on Randi Rhodes this week with supporting links.

According to a 2003 Neocon Plan, which was drafted in 1996 to Reshape the Middle East, we are currently at step 3!

After the Israel vs Lebanon war (step 3), we will witness wars with Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt by the USA.

As the 1996/2003 Neocon "Clean Break" Plan says:

The Perle-Wurmser policy document demanded: 1) Destroy Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Authority, blaming them for every act of Palestinian terrorism, including the attacks from Hamas, an organization which Sharon had helped launch during his early 1980s tenure as Minister of Defense. 2) Induce the United States to overthrow the Saddam Hussein regime in Iraq. 3) Launch war against Syria after Saddam's regime is disposed of, including striking Syrian military targets in Lebanon, and targets in Syria proper. 4) Parlay the overthrow of the Ba'athist regimes in Baghdad and Damascus into the "democratization" of the entire Arab world, including through further military actions against Iran, Saudi Arabia, and "the ultimate prize," Egypt (see Documentation following for the "Clean Break" report).

The Media and Websites need to make this info public for ALL TO SEE and hopefully the Reporters will start to do their jobs of reporting it.

Subject: The Divider and Decider

For decades we have maintained friendships and associations with persons of both major political parties with no problem. That changed during the 2004 presidential campaign.

Some people sent us emails containing derogatory and false allegations about Kerry. If we ignored them, they continued to send more. So we responded in kind with facts about GWB, including a list of his first-term accomplishments. That was the last we heard from our "friends"; we were dropped from their Christmas card lists after as long as 35 years exchanging!

I encountered a former neighbor lady in Wal-Mart one day. After exchanging pleasantries, the subject of voting for president came up. The lady said, "Oh, I wouldn't vote for anyone except George W. Bush; he is a real Christian and is such a nice family man!"

A farmer acquaintance told me he wouldn't vote for Kerry because Kerry would "let queers get married," I responded that there were more important things to be concerned about, in my opinion. "Well, that's the most important to me!" he said.

So, I join several other buzzies who have expressed disgust at the ignorance of so much of our voting public. We may be stuck with "deciders" and dividers.

Subject: Neocons and Corrupt Wealthy Love War

While Israel, with the complete support of the U.S. government and the parrot media, continues to kill hundreds of innocent Palestinians and decimate their infrastructure, the elite globalists rub their hands in lustful anticipation of the feast ahead. They smirk like the Grinch Who Stole Christmas as they savor the thought of all those no-bid contracts handed to them by their legislative ponyboys. The $2 billion they'll get to build a series of bases that they can gut with sub-grade materials and even worse workmanship. Make hundreds of millions in pure juice off that deal alone.

We're being set up for a total world war by Bush and his sociopathic neocrows who would soil themselves if ever in a real battle. It is bought and paid for by the elite bankers, who plan on loaning money to all those destroyed infrastructures so that all nations of the world will be owned by a few ultra-wealthy cartels. Americans are tapped out, so the globalists have shifted their sites to India and China. After all, they already gave them autism when they shipped them vaccines preserved with thimerisol, so why not get the new Indian and Chinese middle-classes in perpetual debt as well.

These kinds of inhuman actions, when carried out with such premeditation, demand the removal of paid influence in governmental power. Elections must generate candidates who truly reflect the constituencies' social strata. People who actually work for a living are tired of privileged wealth running our country into the rubbish heap of history. We don't need your war machine.

Subject: Democrats

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." -- Mohandas Gandhi

The democrats have been ridiculed for saying that the troops need to come home. At first Cindy Sheehan was ignored by just about everyone (MSM). She was ridiculed, just like Murtha. Then the republicans made fun of them, said they were extreme left wing/cowards. Murtha was swift-boated, and so was Cindy. Now they are fighting us, pundits are springing up talking about WW3 urging voters to go republican. This is a fight, and I believe this is one fight in which dems need to "stay the course." (And a few need to join, starting with the Clintons.)

I also read the following:

To quote Gandhi again:

"If we are to teach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children."

Subject: Conspiracy to violate federal law?

This Washington Post story now up on MSNBC.COM caught my interest.

Detainee abuse charges feared: Bush administration seeks shield from 1996 War Crimes Act

Seems that our Attorney General is trying to find ways to protect those guilty of detainee abuse from prosecution for violating laws against such abuse. The administration, along with the Gonzales Justice Department, is drafting new law to retroactively shield torturers and abusers.

In light of a recent Supreme Court ruling that the international Conventions apply to the treatment of detainees in the terrorism fight, Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales has spoken privately with Republican lawmakers about the need for such "protections," according to someone who heard his remarks last week.

Gonzales told the lawmakers that a shield is needed for actions taken by U.S. personnel under a 2002 presidential order, which the Supreme Court declared illegal, and under Justice Department legal opinions that have been withdrawn under fire, the source said. A spokeswoman for Gonzales, Tasia Scolinos, declined to comment on Gonzales's remarks.

Isn't he supposed to be enforcing these laws? Isn't that his sworn duty? Doesn't this amount to a conspiracy to violate federal laws?

Is anyone paying attention?

Subject: Nation-States in the Middle East ?!?!?!?!

Are the Neo-Cons Pursuing a Failed Nation-State Policy in the Middle East? A BuzzFlash News Analysis

There are none there. Indeed there are very few, period. That is a large part of the problem. a nation-state is an entity in which core values are widely shared and whose implementation is thought about in convergent ways. Dick Cottam once argued that nationalism involves the willingness of a large group of people to grant their nation a primary and the terminal loyalty. That is people would be willing to die for their nation and that sort of sacrifice would be made for no more comprehensive entity.

What we have are a lot of state-nations, coercive political entities trying to create nation-states either by inclusion or exclusion. Worth remembering is that little dust-up we call the civil war? What was that about?? And the southern strategy??? Take a look at Garry Wills on Lincoln's address.

Subject: The Limbo Government

One thing you can say for our incompetent, dishonest government is that they never seem to bottom out. Think they can get no worse? This is the Limbo Government. They are trying to see how “low” they can go.

The Middle East is a disaster and our Secretary of State can’t be bothered. She’s off to Asia where they are not yet shooting at each other. With “Condi” as Secretary of State that may change. She will no doubt then decide it is just the “birth of a new Asia.” Still waiting for some sign that this woman is as brilliant as reported. She was a disaster as Bush’s National Security Advisor. Naturally in the Bush tradition that failure resulted in a promotion.

Some Republicans are urging Denny Hastert to bring the vote raising the minimum wage to the floor of the house while other Republicans are urging him not to do it. Just trying to get something done before they scurry off for their 5 week vacation. A vacation spent trying to convince their constituency that they should be re-elected.

Oh and FYI the moderate Republicans' gift of a raise in the minimum wage is only if they get to do away with overtime pay. Limbo Republicans.

No universal health care but our Senators and Congress People have excellent insurance provided by the people they represent so poorly. Limbo on down.

Gas is over $3.00 a gallon. New Orleans is still mostly a pile of rubble. Homeland Security is more interested in protecting a Petting Zoo than providing funds to the cities that actually were attacked on 9/11. And New York is using a big slice of the money it got from the feds to fight first responders who claim they got sick on the site. Drop that Limbo bar another notch.

The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC poll shows that America is in a sour mood. Only 27% think the country is headed in the right direction. 61% disapprove of the job the president is doing. 60% disapprove of the job congress is doing. 65% of the people do not feel confident that life will be better for their children than it is for them. Place that Limbo bar on the ground. The dance is over.

Subject: Theft of the Elections

Thanks to BuzzFlash and Beverly Harris, leading up to the 2004 election, I was aware that the machinery was in place for more "voter irregularities." The Media and most people around me seemed blithely unconcerned about elections reflecting the will of the people. "What would it look like," I wondered," if an election were stolen in this country?" The morning after the election, while Al Franken was encouraging us to buck up, and the pundits and so-called "news" organizations were saying it came down to "Moral Values," I had a profound realization: A stolen election would look exactly like this.

We need the Fairness doctrine in our media. Reagan successfully got rid of that. We need our votes to be counted and the ability to count them again for verification. Something the present hackable machines from the Republican-leaning Diebold, Sequoia, and ESS do not offer. We need those who count our votes and collect them to prize democracy and freedom over their own profit and partisanship.

This Bush has never been elected by the people. Another election approaches and we're supposed to have faith that justice will be served. In such a circumstance, is this really an election? Is this a democracy? The ruling elite have successfully put themselves into power and now somehow they will stop using their successful formula? Where is our informed electorate? Some are reading BuzzFlash and all of us must stand up and take responsibility. Step by step, we must take back and reinstate the principles on which and for which our country was founded: We, the people.
