It has become increasingly clear that for many people in this country there is only one really important thing in their lives. It’s not patriotism or respect for others. It’s not their religion, although they may try to tell you otherwise.

They may even be able to repeat parrot like some “Come Home To Jesus” moment that changed their life. But when the chips are down and the time has come to really show what you are made of … People go shopping.

It is no coincidence that after 9/11 with thousands of Americans horribly murdered, the Pinhead in the White House, in a burst of leadership the likes of which had never been seen, told his fellow Americans to go shopping. And they did.

While the Mega church Hootenanny Religious folks are mainly interested in bashing gays and forcing other women to give birth to children they don’t want or can’t afford, they, too, are part of the religion of shopping. They even get to shop for stuff in their churches. How nice.

American houses burst at the seams with things. Americans need ever larger closets to hold all that stuff. They are buried in things and still they go shopping. One credit card maxed out? Try another one. Live within your means? How very quaint.

Every decision is based on business. Other countries might once have threatened to boycott American goods. We sure fooled them there. We don’t make anything anymore! Boycott that!

Course, if they decide not to ship us anything we’ll be in trouble. Maybe naked. Or they might decide to call in all those trillions of dollars in loans that we owe them. Note to Americans, don’t honk off countries holding your loans. You know, like Communist China. (Amazing how militant we are towards Castro’s Communist Cuba while selling ourselves out to China.)

No, no don’t think about that. Grab the credit cards and let’s go shopping. We are ass deep in debt and going deeper. The real national religion in this country is consumerism. Nearly everyone worships there.

100 pairs of jeans for every butt! Now that’s a slogan every American can get behind. Are you listening, Democratic Party?
