The killing in Hawijah, Iraq of 18-year old Corporal Jeremy Shank of Jackson, Missouri (population 12,000) merited an article in the Southeast Missourian. Cpl. Shank was killed on Sept. 6, 2006 and I was in that part of Missouri when his body came home for burial. According to the Pentagon, Shank was on a "dismounted security patrol when he encountered enemy forces using small arms."

George Bush and his minions want us to think there’s progress in Iraq, but I ask you, how can they claim progress anywhere when they can’t even take care of the “Homeland” as evidenced by the recent “GAO evaluation of the massive Department of Homeland Security”?  “JOE JOHNS…When it comes to emergency preparedness and response, which is what you want your Homeland Security Department to be really good at, a new report indicates the feds have pretty much flunked. SEN. MARY LANDRIEU (D), LOUISIANA: This report is sort of the definitive authority that virtually nothing much has been done, missing 18 out of 25 marks, a nation still unprepared to prevent or respond to a catastrophic disaster…JOHNS: Claire McCaskill used to be the auditor for the state of the Missouri. She says the problem isn't the grading system; it's the failures GAO found.”  Hmm, its time for America to “kick” some “ass” out of office!  Read my lips, IMPEACH-IMPEACH-IMPEACH!
