Cindy Sheehan: Long Line of Chickenhawks

by Cindy Sheehan

An anti-war activist at a town hall meeting in Iowa recently asked Mitt Romney why not ONE of his five sons served the USA in the military. The woman's brother had been in Iraq and she understandably would have liked to know if the Romney family was so supportive of BushCo's war of terror why didn't they support it with their own flesh and blood.

Progressive web sites like BuzzFlash, Truthout, Daily KOS, etc. suffer by picking up headlines from wire services (AP, Reuters, etc.) and from major newspapers. Such sources often seem no more than co dependents supporting an administration addiction to lies and to propaganda, spoon fed to the press.

Mitt could just decide to perhaps take pity
On soldiers on a third tour now in Sadr City,

They said Fred Thompson's wife is a lawyer
Which according to the most accepted rule
Doesn't happen if you didn't pass the bar
Or, for that matter, attend a law school.

Jim Ridout: The Two Americas

by Jim Ridout

John Edwards speaks of two Americas, those that have and those that don't. As time goes by, I like the idea of two Americas more and more. The premise is not to simply end poverty but to live in a country that represents what I thought for so long we did, and do not. The solution may be an arrangement where those of us that have certain beliefs live and govern to our values and the same for the others. Our reliance on Federal Government would be for defense. I am not speaking of a revolution but rather an evolution. Some of us would hold dear the Constitution and govern to the principles espoused by this most wonderful of documents and ideals, others could edit it to their particular principles. The United States would still stand as one nation under God with liberty and choices for all.

The Democratic Party is not a bunch of wafflers. They are a bunch of WFILers. Let me explain.

If you assume the Democratic Party leadership is not a bunch of idiots, then the only alternative theory has to be that they think that we are.

Amy Branham: Courage

By Amy Branham

I've been thinking about courage these past few days. Not just any old brand of courage, but the courage it takes to stand up for and fight for what you believe is right, even when it flies in the face of reason.

“Eight US soldiers killed in Iraq, 13 hurt since Saturday.” The only way to support our soldiers is to bring them home! George Bush and those who support him are responsible for the death and destruction occurring in Iraq! Lauding the sacrifice of this death and destruction cannot be construed as support!

Subject: Iraq

"... We need to recognize, as Lugar implicitly does, that Iraq no longer exists as a unified country. In the parts where we can accomplish nothing, we should withdraw. But there are still three missions that may be achievable-disrupting al-Qaeda, preserving Kurdistan's democracy, and limiting Iran's increasing domination. These can all be served by a modest US presence in Kurdistan. We need an Iraq policy with sufficient nuance to protect American interests. Unfortunately, we probably won't get it."
