FAQ

A collection of insightful ruminations, reflections, and rants on the events of the day (with the exception of the weekend). We'll collect a week's worth here and then archive them. Come visit each weekday to see what's pushing Barbara's buttons.

In an attempt to negate Joseph Wilson's public statements regarding the bogus claims that Saddam was trying to buy uranium in Niger, the right wing ditto heads in this country, along with some in mainstream media, have said, "He was all over the talk show air waves against the war in Iraq, even before it started." As though this makes a difference, I would think, perhaps, he was against the war because he knew the evidence for the war, presented by this administration, was phony.

* * *

Light bulb here: "It appears to be guerilla warfare"! Arrogance breeds stupidity and the current administration is not lacking arrogance. How long has it taken them to figure out that Saddam, realizing he did not have a chance against "shock and awe," would fight this battle in the only way he could -- GUERILLA WARFARE. It worked in Afghanistan against the Russians and now it's being used against our boys and girls in Iraq! Wake up America the thief perched in the Oval Office and his gang are dunderheads, contrary to what they think of themselves.

I can't get over the news reports regarding the soldiers in Iraq who had the courage to speak out about the conditions they are enduring. I cannot believe the news anchors smiling gleefully, in their secured positions in front of the cameras, telling us these soldiers will be punished. Again, patriotism comes in many forms, and the patriots in Iraq, fighting this war, facing danger everyday, have the Constitutional right to speak freely. Patriotic Americans should be up in arms over this ridiculous bullshit talk of punishing these soldiers! These soldiers deserve a medal for bravery in war, and bravely telling the truth.

Sooner or later America is going to wake up and realize George is spending your money just like it was Poppy's! Jobs gone, 401Ks bust, stocks flat, and poverty increasing -- this, my friends, is the way of the Repuglican party. While the majority of Americans are aware of this fact, there are those who haven't a clue. Take the SCOTUS for example: they did Poppy a little tit for tat favor, installed Jr. in office, and now America pays.

* * *

How typical of George to claim "Mission Accomplished," while the guns are still blazing and the grenades launching! Remember, this is the guy who quit flying "fighter" missions off the coast of Texas during Viet Nam, then didn't show up in Alabama to finish the tour. Seems the guy never finishes anything he starts; he always leaves the mess for someone else to clean up. We've only just begun to see what a mess he can make, and clean up this time will take decades!

It's a sad day, indeed, when the president of the United States doesn't even know why he took this country to war. "He(Saddam) wouldn't let the inspectors in"; "imminent threat"; "Weapons of Mass Destruction"; and "Nuclear weapons and mushroom clouds" have become "if he didn't have them, he was trying to get them"; weapons are now "weapons programs"; and the nuclear threat is various items planted in a rose garden 12 years ago. The sooner the American people realize the man is a moron and hasn't a clue about what he's doing, the whole world will be better off.

Exactly when does a lie "rise to the level of a presidential speech"? Obviously, for this gang, it's when they don't get caught. It seems like all the other lies we've been told are okay simply because they haven't been exposed, or because the lies are too numerous to cite. Somehow, I cannot be concerned about Dumbya's credibility when I am overwhelmed by the numbers of innocent people who died as a direct result of the lies told by this administration to justify an unnecessary war.

* * *

How do you define Patriotism? Do you condone the deaths of American soldiers and innocent people as a necessity in an ill-conceived, poorly planned, pre-emptive war, or do you question the validity of sending troops to invade a country that could otherwise be contained? It boils down to perception and the true meaning of freedom. It is a simple matter of truth and justice -- unknown qualities in this administration.

July 15, 2003

"It didn't rise to the level of a presidential speech" -- this statement does nothing to justify the needless death and destruction resulting from Dumbya's lies. It doesn't bring a loved one back to their family, it doesn't give a little boy back his arms, and it doesn't bring order to the chaos in the aftermath of a pre-emptive war. No matter what they say, no matter how hard they try, they can't make a bold leader out of a lying weasel.

* * *

Is all that money in the military budget -- that billion dollars a day -- going to private defense contractors? If our troops, on the field of battle, don't have enough flak jackets, enough batteries for night vision goggles, enough guns that fire correctly, or the equipment they need for their safety, then exactly what are we paying for? Who is really benefiting from taxpayer dollars? My God, not only do these young men and women have to fight an unnecessary war, they have to fight it with faulty or no equipment. Where are all the "patriots" now? Why have we not heard their speeches? That infamous photo-op cost more than adequate provisions for our troops and Bush should be ashamed -- he took the flak jackets off the backs of our boys so he could play like a fighter pilot!

* * *

Given what the August marketing strategy of the Bush administration brought us in past years, while Bush vacationed in Texas, I am scared to death to see what this September will bring!

July 14, 2003

Move on? Move on to what and where? Are we to trust this administration with our future and our security when they lie in order to justify whatever they want? North Korea, Iran, and who knows where else they will move on too. Are we to trust the lives of our military to an administration that cheats and lies to obtain its goal of world domination? Should we entrust the credibility of our great nation to a bunch of thieves?

* * *

It's not "just sixteen words" that were lies! The fact is, this administration waged a pre-emptive war to launch an attempt to dominate the world! Thousands of innocent people, as well as American soldiers, are now dead as a result of those "sixteen words," and this administration bears the responsibility.
