Subject: Doin' the Texas Side-step with Georgie!

“Mr. President did you ever discuss abortion with Harriet Miers. I don’t have a recollection of that. It doesn’t come up in interviews”?????????? So all the time you were talking about partial abortion with her, Georgie, you didn’t mention it! BUT you do know she has the same philosophy as you! Is her heart anything like Putin’s soul, you can just look into them and know them well? That’s another lie, George, but maybe we will just call it a Texas side-step! The Texas side-step can be introduced in the new book that could be called, “Understanding Georgie Bush’s Speeches for Dummies!” You must have known "Brownie’s" heart too, but skipped over his qualifications.

Of course doin the Texas side-step works in Plamegate, too. For over two years George and Dick NEVER discussed the outing of a CIA agent. Just like they didn’t ignore what they knew to be those fraudulent 16 words in the State of the Union Address. From firing anyone involved in Plamegate, after stonewalling information about the “getting to the bottom of this” part, emerged the new deal; “if they are convicted of a crime they’ll be fired.” Now we have the new implication which is that Bush and Cheney took part in discussions with Karl Rove, Lewis Libby and others in the Administration

STORMS IN U.S. divert gaze from a worsening Iraq! (NBC News Analysis)

The words “making progress” are laughable, especially in Iraq. The storms and the judicial appointments temporarily diverted media reports from Iraq where the situation is going from bad to worse. Fifty-five U.S. soldiers lost their lives in Iraq last month, and in just a 24-hour period 108 Iraqis died, and that was just the beginning. ... There have been more complaints from Iraqis, in particular Sunnis, of more torture and abuse. Reuters reported that U.S. troops were obstructing reports out of Iraq.

The political divide widens as Kurds call for the Shiite leader to step down.

Sunni Arab moderates threatened Tuesday to boycott the voting after the Shiite-led parliament passed new rules over the weekend that make it effectively impossible for Sunnis to defeat the charter at the ballot box.

The new rules deepened alienation over the political process among Sunnis, who had decided to participate in the referendum but to vote no - but who now said the Shiites were using their dominance to stack the deck against them. A boycott would undermine the referendum's legitimacy and strike a blow to hopes that political progress would weaken Sunni support for the insurgency.

"Boycotting the referendum is a possible option ... because we believe that participating in the voting might be a useless act," said Saleh al-Mutlaq, a leading Sunni politician.”

US Military Launches New Iraq Offensive (Associated Press/Truthout)

GEORGE, this failure in Iraq will not change in time, and it is NOT one you can dance out of, any more. It’s time for our troops to come home, our money to be used for our citizens, and to support only candidates who will advocate a no-war policy! Paul Hackett is the new breed of Democrat we are looking for and I hope many more with his viewpoint will run for election!

The Bush Administration has been trying to side-step their way out of torture, abuse, and rendition and derides the reports from many Humanitarian Watch groups.

For the first time, American soldiers who personally tortured Iraqi prisoners have come forward to give testimony to human rights organisations about crimes they committed.

Three soldiers - a captain and two sergeants - from the 82nd Airborne Division stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Mercury near Fallujah in Iraq have told Human Rights Watch how prisoners were tortured both as a form of stress relief and as a way of breaking them for interrogation sessions.

These latest revelations about the torture of Iraqi detainees come at a time when the Bush administration thought it could draw a line under the scandal of Abu Ghraib following last week's imprisonment of Private Lynndie England for her now infamous role in the abuse of prisoners and the photographing of torture.

Torture of Iraqis Was for 'Stress Relief,' Say US Soldiers (Neil Mackay/Sunday Herald)

IN IRAQ the new government QUIETLY changed the rules to make sure the Constitution would be approved. Mr. Bush and his Republican Party have been doing that since they took office. Some Iraqis have called it "Making a mockery of Democracy" and showing they took advice from the masters of secrecy and spin in this government. As Mr. Bush’s Republican party is imploding within with corruption, and so many of his policies have pointed to incompetence, the best dance we can do now with George Bush is IMPEACHING him and dancing him, his cronies and his Party out of power!

Subject: Is Creationism Evolving into Intelligent Design?

Is Creationism evolving into Intelligent Design? As our scientific knowledge increases it is becoming more and more obvious that the universe is more than a few thousand years old. We now know through genetic mapping that humans and monkeys are a 98.5% genetic match. So in order for creationism to survive in the face of scientific evidence the concept of creationism is evolving. Now the word "day" in the Bible might mean "a thousand years" or perhaps a billion years. And as we see science take apart the Bible, we see Creationism evolving into "Intelligent Design."

But Intelligent Design just obscures science. It basically assumes that anything complex had to be made by "someone" and it stops there. I find it dishonest for Christians to claim that ID isn't really Creationism and should consider the commandment "Thou shalt not lie." I would encourage Christianity to evolve into reality.

Subject: Letter to the Editor/Tennessean -- Al Gore

Hey BuzzFlash,

I sent your letter regarding Al Gore's heroic efforts to help the victims of hurricane Katrina to the Tennessean, a TN statewide paper. I did not have time to alter your letter so I sent it as written. Somebody from Chattanooga, TN sent your letter as written to the Tennessean as well. The Tennessean published both my letter to the editor and the Chattanooga letter on the same day! (I believe they did this on purpose. In my opinion the Tennessean is right wing).

Nashville local right-wing hate talk show host, Steve Gill, I am told by a co-worker, had a feeding frenzy about this on his show this morning! Remember? Steve Gill is famous for organizing the intimidating and sometimes violent protests at the TN state capitol, attempting to force state Senators and Reps into voting against a proposed state income tax. Gill claimed our identical letters to the editor were proof of a Democratic/Left Wing propaganda machine. I am told he made his point by reading both letters line by line!

The fact that a fellow BuzzFlasher and I were the topic and source of right-wing hate this morning makes me very happy! Not only did Al and Tipper get great coverage of their heart filled and selfless acts, but BuzzFlash got some free advertising as well.

Have a great day.

P.S. I cannot find the letters at the Tennessean's on-line site. But Steve Gill definitely has them!

Subject: BUSH CONTINUES TO FEED AMERICA BS

And that's SAYING a lot. I've watched this morning's Press Conference, and through the usual smirking at inappropriate times, I came away with the sense that (a) Bush doesn't believe the words that are coming out of his own mouth, but (b) he expects US to believe them. In other words, we're supposed to lap up his particular brand of BS like puppies lap up Alpo.

What happened to that "Political Capital" he allegedly accumulated after the 2004 election he hijacked? Now it's looking more and more like he's maxed out a credit card that he should have never used, and AMERICAN EXPRESS is on the phone demanding payment in FULL. And Bush doesn't have the money to make the payment. But he's arrogant enough to force another Supreme Court nominee down the throats of the American people, while effectively giving the American people the "finger" by being defiant ("We're not leaving IRAQ!") ("The Economy is booming") or ("$2000 is enough for the hurricane victims to have a fresh start...")

All of the above is the most delusional BS I've ever heard in my life. And I know I have a good BS detector, courtesy of my parents, who trained me and my brothers how to detect BS when it's being served.

Face it, most people have very good BS detectors, and if yours is in good working condition, the President's Press Conference should have had your BS detector on OVERLOAD. When will he realize that the American people are not a bunch of plants that you can continue feeding in the dark and think that we flourish as healthy plants in the daylight? Of course, you still have the 25% of the country that adores being fed BS, especially if it's the POTUS that's doing the feeding. There's nothing you can say; no argument that you can make, that will convince them that the POTUS has been feeding them BS and making them like it.

I mean, you have to love being fed BS if you like the fact that your environment is no cleaner; your chance for a quality education has flown the coop; that your access to medical care or a job with a quality living wage has gone south with the refusal of Congress to pass legislation to guarantee access to medical care when you need it, or with the passage of CAFTA, your job gets sent to Costa Rica without YOU. Or if your wage hasn't kept up with gas at $5 a gallon in most places, which has you paying grocery money to keep the tank on your SUV at half-full.

So much BS is being fed to Americans, we need code words to identify when BS is on the menu. For example, "Judicial Philosophy" translates into "ruling on controversial issues My way."

Or "strict constructionist" translates into "screw what the Constitution says; do it My way."

"Success in Iraq" really translates into "Stop asking me about Iraq; I don't want to admit that we're screwed."

"Healthy Skies" means "breathing polluted air" and so on.

What a country we live in, especially when the President is so delusional that he continues to feed BS to the American People and believes, in his insulated world, that the people are lapping it up like, well, a long, tall glass of, well, Kool-Aid. Well, the President, along with Cheney, Rummy, Condi and crew can continue to feed America BS as long as America accepts it. And considering the wimps that are supposed to be the opposition party on Capitol Hill (read: Democrats) have been so infected with DLC rhetoric, they crumple in the face of real opposition, while telling us, the every man or woman, that they're fighting for us. Excuse me, but if your brand of fighting is crumpling like a wilted Kleenex every time the GOP says "Boo!", I'm willing to take a pass.

That's what the CBC Monitor does - fight back by demanding accountability from elected officials. Or what MoveOn does - put up candidates who will fight back. Or what Bloggers like Steve Gillard, DailyKos and Atrios do - endorse candidates who will say "enough of the BS!"

Bush can continue to feed America BS if he wants (and he will do so at every opportunity). But just because he can feed it to Americans doesn't mean we have to eat it...

Unless you're that 25% of the country who loves being fed BS on a steady diet. May God taking a liking to you, because you're too far gone to go off your diet. I know this entry wasn't very "Christ-like," but if you read your Bible, you can clearly see when Jesus called BS...well, BS. He just used nicer language.

Subject: Sept 24 Rally in DC

BuzzFlash,

With respect to Gary Rumor's letter of Oct 3, I too was disappointed that no one from Congress was brave enough to join the speakers list. I don't blame the organizer, I blame the lame Democrats. With the polls going against the war, it's disgusting to see how meek and irrelevant they remain. And I wonder if MSM would have covered it any better even if Jesus Christ was there. After all, Jesse Jackson, Ralph Nader, and Cindy Sheehan among others were worthy of coverage.

Does a rally make a noise if no MSM media is in the forest?

Subject: Reid and Supreme Court nominee

Another person [Reid] being blackmailed/threatened or making the political trade, but this trade for a seat on the US Supreme Court means Bush/Cheney/Rove/etc. get a free card or will-never-be-convicted-of-anything card, and if it comes to staying in power, maybe the US Supreme Court majority will even agree to martial law and suspending elections. I hope I am wrong [this definitely makes me a liberal/progressive?].

Subject: First Priority

It's our mess and we're gonna have to clean it up. After the questionable presidential elections in 2000 and 2004, we must make the most undeniable push for immediate reform that has ever taken place in this country. We must rise up and confront the Bush administration and demand every vote counted, return to paper ballots, as a first step. We may just be able to win enough seats in the house in 2006 to begin to reclaim our country from the Republican party criminals who rule over everything today. It's always about priorities, and the ballots are top priority in this quest for justice in America.

Subject: Air America

BuzzFlash,

Feeling pretty sad, because they took Air America, away from Phila. PA.

We can still get in on the computer, but it is not like using the radio.

What are the neocons afraid of, if they are sooo big. Afraid that Randi Rhodes, Al Franken, Mike Malloy, and the others, might bring too much of truth telling, to counteract all their neocon lies, to America?

Subject: Bird Flu Distraction in the Making

Do I smell the inception of a Huge GOVERNMENT DISTRACTION Scare Campaign? With the Repugs in spiraling descent we are now on the RED Level for Bird Flu. CNN just reported our government expects the possibility of hundreds of thousands of deaths in this country from A PANDEMIC of bird flu. This government doctor wished other countries were taking it more seriously. RED FLAG. The "Bird Flu" has never mutated from bird to human and most serious scientists don't believe that it likely will. All known cases of human bird flu have been from bird to human, removing the possibility of the Government's expectation for a Pandemic - come to think of it, didn't Bush mention bird flu in his lengthy Rose Garden speech earlier this morning.

Subject: Progress!

Hey, ya'll it's me here in Alabama. Did I not tell you last year when Roy Moore made an A-- out of himself over the ten commandments, he would be Alabama's next Governor???? We have a beautiful state..."Alabama the beautiful"...but we have the dumbest politicians in the United States. Every time Jeff Sessions speaks to Congress or has a press conference, I want to hide my face in shame. What a...ah...ah...politican!!!!!!

On a more positive note...I talked to a Bible thumper at the fruitstand here in my small rural town. She has a son in AfgHanistan. I mentioned to her that I went to Washington last week to participate in the peace march. I told her I didn't want to offend her since she had a son in the war, but I felt that Mr. Bush lied us into war.

To my great surprise, she wasn't offended at all. As a matter of fact the recruiters had been to the High School and were trying to recruit her other son. Her son told her that the recruiters were telling them outrageous lies trying to get the students to sign up for the military. Anyway, she was very glad that someone was protesting the war. And she believed Bush has lied.

Folks that is progress...in the South. Thanks.
