On Last Week Tonight on Sunday, John Oliver discussed debt collection companies and proved how incredibly simple it is to start one up and jump right into the business of harassing the disadvantaged for money they often don’t have.

Calling it, “disturbingly easy,” Oliver started his company and website and named it, “Central Asset Recovery Professionals” or “CARP — after the bottom-feeding fish.” Faster than lightning, CARP was offered $15 million in medical debt  for the impossibly low price of $60k. CARP took the deal along with the personal information of 9,000 folks who were experiencing medical difficulties and the bills that come with them. Rather than go after those people, CARP has opted to forgive those debts making $15 million the biggest TV show giveaway in history (adding a “BLEEP you, Oprah!” after beating her TV giveaway record).

Here is the YouTube clip from the show:

How cool is that? Thank you, John Oliver. What a wonderful surprise it will be for those 9,000 people. Relieving some of their financial burden and stress might even help improve their physical health of some of these people. How cool? Freezing.
