Kellyanne Conway: It’s Great Trump Doesn’t Just "Sit Around" And "Study" Before He Acts

During an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway said it was “important” that Donald Trump is not the kind of president who studies evidence that could impact key decisions like launching military strikes. She made her comment while discussing the possibility of military strikes against Iran.
“It’s so important to have a president who isn’t a typical politician,” Conway said. “Because he and his team don’t sit around and say, ‘Well, let’s study it. Let’s have a commission about it.’ Secretary Pompeo went right out there and pointed the finger at the aggressor here, the Iranian regime.”
In fact, Trump has pushed for studying various issues.
He called for “studying the Democrats playbook” and to “study the late Joseph McCarthy” in order to deflect from investigations into his corruption and cover-ups. Similarly, he said a “year of intense study” proved that his campaign’s involvement with Russian efforts to meddle in the election was a “hoax.”
Of course, acquiring knowledge of issues in the lead up to a military attack and understanding the potential fallout is far more serious. And it seems the White House is advocating an ill-thought-out response.
On Sunday, Trump floated the idea of a military attack in retaliation for strikes against the oil supply in Saudi Arabia.
“Saudi Arabia oil supply was attacked. There is reason to believe that we know the culprit, are locked and loaded depending on verification, but are waiting to hear from the Kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack, and under what terms we would proceed!” he wrote.
Thus far, Iran has denied responsibility for the attack. Houthi rebels in Yemen have claimed they launched the strikes.
“The Houthis said they had launched the aerial attacks with 10 drones, which would amount to their most audacious strike on Saudi Arabia since the kingdom intervened in Yemen’s war more than four years ago,” the New York Times reported.
