Hank Aaron was a giant of a man, not just a legendary baseball player.
Not only did he break Babe Ruth’s “unbreakable” home run record, he was also a civil rights hero who never missed a chance to fight for equality. Eventually his efforts led to a Presidential Medal of Freedom and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund’s Thurgood Marshall Lifetime Achievement Award.
The website of the National Park Service’s Civil Rights Walk of Fame describes him this way:
For more than three decades, Hank Aaron has been best known for hitting more home runs than any other baseball player in history. However, the baseball icon also spoke out against pervasive racism in major league baseball and broke racial barriers throughout his career. Despite hate mail, death threats against him and a plan to kidnap one of his daughters, Aaron broke Babe Ruth's homerun record on April 8, 1974 when he hit his 715th home run.
Former Sen. Kelly Loeffler, on the other hand, is what shows up in the mirror when Bloody Mary is on her lunch break. I’ve stared into trouts’ eyes that showed more comprehension. The only way she’d ever pass the Turing test is if she cheated off another robot’s paper.
So hearing her claim that Major League Baseball’s decision to move the All-Star Game from Georgia dishonors the memory of Aaron, who would have absolutely been on the side of voting rights and access, is simply maddening.
And, apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks that.
On Friday, Loeffler released the following statement in response to MLB’s decision to pull the All-Star Game from Atlanta:
For the nontweeters:
The @MLB had the chance to honor an iconic trailblazer and @Braves legend Hank Aaron. Instead, the [sic] bowed to the woke disinformation campaign of the Left—to the detriment of hardworking Georgians and small businesses.

In response to the MLB’s decision to relocate the All-Star Game and MLB Draft from Atlanta, Greater Georgia Chairwoman Kelly Loeffler released the following statement:
“It’s extremely unfortunate that the MLB has fallen into the woke, misinformation campaign being spread by Democrats — only to the detriment of hardworking Georgians and small businesses. At a time when the MLB had the opportunity to honor an iconic trailblazer in Hank Aaron, they instead opted to honor politics,” Kelly Loeffler said.
“Greater Georgia will continue to stand with the vast majority of Georgians who support the Election Integrity Act that expands access and strengthens the integrity of our elections.”
The response from Raynal Aaron, the grandson of Hank Aaron, who died in Atlanta on Jan. 22, was simple, unequivocal, and swift: “Please keep my grandfather’s name out of your mouth.”
My response: “Is she still here?”
Hopefully, Loeffler’s very brief political career is over for good. Then again, people with more money than talent or good sense always seem to get a second chance. And this election “reform” law seems tailor-made to keep talentless twits like Loeffler in power.
No wonder she’s such a strong proponent of it, eh?
