Putin humiliates Trump again by leaking Trump’s offer to help him

Russian President Vladimir Putin has leaked details of a phone call with Trump that the White House tried to hide.
On the official Russian embassy twitter account, the Kremlin noted talks between Putin and Trump regarding U.S. assistance in fighting wildfires in Siberia. According to the tweet, Putin “viewed Trump’s offer as a sign that fully-fledged bilateral relations could be restored in the future.”
Talks between government heads are very common, but it’s not so common for one government to leak talks about their conversation. And for hours after the tweet was up, the White House did not acknowledge the phone call. It was not until during the highly publicized Democratic presidential debate that the Trump administration admitted the call took place.
Additionally, it seems strange for Trump to offer assistance to a foreign government’s firefighting efforts when he has threatened to cut federal funding for California wildfire relief efforts. The Trump administration has also been known to disparage victims of U.S. wildfires, making his offer to Russia even more strange.
This is not the first time the Kremlin has put Trump in his place.
Earlier this during the G-20 summit in Buenos Aires a Kremlin official leaked details of a meeting between Trump and Putin, which didn’t line up with the White House’s description of the event. And despite all these talks with Putin, Trump has still refused to call him out for meddling in the 2016 election but has laughed with him about it.
It seems like Putin is still trying to put Trump in his place, and Trump seems fine with that.
