Stephen Colbert's Brilliant Live Post-Coverage of Tuesday Night's Debate

July 31, 2019

In a six-minute tour de force as Stephen Colbert did a live opening monologue just after the first night of the Detroit debate concluded. Colbert and his writing team masterfully assembled clips and commentary from the evening, just minutes after its conclusion.

Colbert began by summarizing the opening debate: “But much of it was guys with no chance of winning the nomination yelling Republican talking points at the people who can. It was like the seven dwarfs offering Snow White a poison apple. The debate began with our national anthem, and everyone passed the test by holding their hands over their hearts, except for Tim Ryan, unless he keeps his heart in his scrotrum.”

You’ll have to watch the rest to get the Colbert perspective on the gathering of ten.
